Ferrer, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and Hugo Barrera, Special Agent in Charge, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, announced yesterday’s indictment of defendant Edward Todd Basile, 47, of Okeechobee, Florida, on federal firearms law violations, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(a)(6), 922(b)(5), and 922(g)(3), and transfer of unregistered machine guns, in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 5861 (e). Tribal Cigarette Wholesaler Pleads Guilty to Obstruction of Justice

A Perrysburg, New York company pleaded guilty and was sentenced last week in U.S. District Court in Seattle to obstruction of justice. The plea resolves criminal charges brought against the owner, Arthur Montour, and an agent, Peter Montour, of Native Wholesale Supply ( NWS ), a New York based cigarette supplier, in connection with a contraband cigarette scheme in the Western District of Washington. Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Federal Prison for His Role in the Attempted Murder-for-Hire of Brown County, Texas, Judge

U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks, of the Northern District of Texas, announced that Jeffrey Dwayne Harrison, 49, was sentenced today to 240 months in federal prison for his role in the attempted murder-for-hire of Judge Stephen Ellis, 35th Judicial District Court Judge of Brown County, Texas. Harrison pleaded guilty in June 2010 to two counts of using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire. More »

Varrio Hawaiian Gardens Gang Member Sentenced to 210 Months for Firearm and Controlled Substance Possession

A U.S. District Court Judge sentenced 36 year old Brian Allen Viramontes, a Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang member to 210 months in federal prison and lifetime supervised release, yesterday for firearms and drug violations. Viramontes pled guilty to the charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and RICO, in federal court in April 2010. Members and Associates of the Pagans Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Arrested in Tri-State Area Sweep

Earlier today two indictments were unsealed in federal court in Central Islip and White Plains, New York, charging 17 alleged members and associates of Long Island, up-state New York, and New Jersey chapters of the Pagans outlaw motorcycle gang. Simultaneous with today’s arrests, federal agents executed search warrants at seven locations on Long Island, including the gang’s local chapter headquarters, a tattoo parlor in Rocky Point; two locations in up-state New York; four locations in New Jersey; and seized 34 firearms and one improvised explosive device ( IED ). Gang Member Sentenced to 110 Months in Federal Prison for Possessing a Firearm as a Felon

A 30-year-old member of the Rolling 60s Crips was sentenced earlier today in federal court in Minneapolis for being a felon in possession of a firearm. United States District Court Judge John R. Tunheim sentenced Anton Lamont Burnes to 110 months in prison on one count of felon in possession. Burnes was indicted on August 12, 2008, and pleaded guilty on November 2, 2009. More »

First Federal Indictment Unsealed in “Project Exile Minneapolis”

The first federal indictment arising out of Project Exile Minneapolis has been unsealed. It charges Calvin Lorenzo Harris, age 24, of Richfield, Minnesota, with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possessing an unregistered gun.
